EDP 5285-01
SPRING 2005

ON SUBMITTING ASSIGNMENTS

Alas, I must start with the negatives:

I don't open email attachments.

There have been too many problems with computer viruses and hackers. This is especially true for University computers, which have proven to be hotbeds of infection. Last year I had to do an entire "wipe and reload" on my main computer. Not fun.

PLEASE DO NOT SLIDE PAPERS UNDER MY DOOR OR UNDER THE EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY & LEARNING SYSTEMS SUITE DOOR!

DO NOT slide papers under my office door. They may or may not be placed on my desk--where I may not be able to find them. No one who has ever seen my desk would ever do anything so foolish. Similar problems occur with materials slid under the EPLS suite door.
BUT WE HAVE ALTERNATIVES
Here are some alternatives if you absolutely cannot hand assignments to me in person:
  • My office mailbox in 307 Stone Building
  • FAX to the Educational Psychology & Learning Systems Office (850) 644-8776. Please be sure to put my name and EDP 5285 on the Cover Sheet and include the total number of pages
  • Mail (USE FIVE DAYS ADVANCE NOTICE!)  to Dr. Susan Carol Losh, Educational Psychology  & Learning Systems, FSU, Tallahassee, FL 32306-4453
  • Include as text in an email. PLEASE DO NOT USE HTML, which my Eudora program can turn into unreadable source code.

  • In all these alternatives, your assignment MUST reach me by the stated due  dates. Please be sure to include your name!

During the semester, I may ask for a copy of your work on disk.

For example, I typically post a copy of your presentation to our course site. I try to have a copy of your final paper too.

All disks are scanned with Norton or McAfee Anti Virus software before I open them. I will let you know if your disk is infected.

Sorry for the paranoia but I have been sent worms, bugs, klezzes, slammers, blasters, mydooms, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (trust me: you DON'T want to know), and just about every common and uncommon virus around. If you have heard of it, I almost certainly have been sent it.
